99 High Street Lobby Reno Completed for Nuveen Real Estate

Construction is now complete at 99 High on a new full interior lobby, relocated corner entry, glass façade, streetscape, and numerous other enhancements.

Corderman & Company provided construction management services for owner Nuveen Real Estate on the transformation of this award-winning 32-story 730,000-square-foot tower at the gateway to Boston’s Seaport and Financial District in Downtown Boston.

The $7.5 million renovation program, in collaboration with the architecture and interior design firm SGA, features a series of far-reaching lobby renovations, façade, and entry sequence now re-located to the corner of Congress and High Streets.

The building design also incorporates a double-height glass façade to enhance the tower’s neighborhood presence and visibility. Guests now enjoy a distinctive lobby experience with natural and organic elements that serve as an extension of adjacent Rose Kennedy Greenway, custom millwork from Asia, a feature wall with stone from Italy, and a repositioned concierge desk on the upper level. The project adds exciting street-level retail opportunities and important modifications to the building’s powerful infrastructure.

At the epicenter of Boston’s urban core, 99 High is an ideal destination for the growing needs of today’s tenants. It is within a seven-minute walk of: South Station’s MBTA Red Line, commuter rail, and buses; Downtown Crossing’s Orange and Red Lines; the commuter ferry terminal at Rowes Wharf; the Orange and Blue Lines of State Street Station; as well as three Bluebike bike-share stations. The building overlooks Interstates 90 and 93 which are immediately accessible. 99 High’s diverse tenant base includes AIG, Marsh, and FEMA. Existing retail tenants are the Citizen’s Bank Banking & Wealth Center, and Society on High.

A reception area is to the left, featuring a sleek white desk with a man sitting behind it. Two women walk through the space, there are white floor tiles and ceilings, with some stainless steel and millwork accents. The space was built by Corderman.

“We take great pride in this extensive building reinvention,” said Corderman & Company Project Manager Matt Santapaula. “It brings a new presence and energy to the world-class tower as well as to a pivotal high profile corner of the city. Tenants have embraced the changes and are giving us very positive feedback.” The new 99 High lobby is one of the numerous landmark lobbies that are either underway or recently completed by Corderman & Company including 855 Boylston Street, 20-21 Custom House Street, and The Pilot House in Boston.

The leasing agent and property manager of 99 High is CBRE. Corderman & Company’s project team was comprised of: Project Manager Matt Santapaula, Principal Barrie Ferraro, Assistant Project Manager Jim Tully, Superintendents Kevin Mealey and Paul Ciampa, and Laborer Sean Keene.
