Supporting the Tynan Elementary School in 2023

Since the company’s founding in 2002, Corderman & Company has always called South Boston home. The sense of community, and the firm’s continuous commitment to philanthropy, inspired Corderman to connect with the Tynan Elementary School and to form a partnership that would support teachers, students, families, and subsequently the community of South Boston.

This partnership has grown over the years and is comprised of an assortment of volunteer efforts and donations that have become Corderman traditions as the connection with the Tynan school has grown deeper.

This past year, Corderman & Company’s contributions to the school and engagement with their students began with a celebration of Women in Construction Week in March. Members of the Corderman team went to the school to read “The House That She Built” and to participate in construction related activities with the young students, all with the hopes of inspiring and educating this younger generation.

The partnership continued over the summer through a bike donation and Back-to-School backpack drive. Some of the students won the bikes at a raffle hosted by the school, providing an exciting new activity for the summer break. Backpacks and school supplies were donated to the school as well, equipping students with necessary back-to-school items to help promote education and learning.

The end of the year featured Corderman & Company’s annual Tynan Elementary Gift Giving, when employees shop for gifts and goodies for Tynan students for the holiday season. This year’s theme was Books & Hobbies!

This partnership is an integral piece of Corderman & Company’s identity and would not be possible without the dedication of Marissa Maurice, Accounting Specialist at Corderman, who contributes her time and energy into coordinating these volunteer efforts and donations, and who is an extraordinary team member here at Corderman.
