International Women’s Month this March was filled with celebrations, events, and well deserved recognition of the incredible women at our firm.

To kick off the celebration, Corderman & Company APM Riley Baldwin and Project Coordinator Rachel Chen attended NAWIC’s 3rd Annual Women in Construction Week Event in Foxborough. Hosted by the Boston, Rhode Island, and Worcester Chapters of NAWIC, the event was a great opportunity to connect with incredible industry leaders and celebrate the remarkable contributions of women in construction.

The festivities continued at the Tynan Elementary School in South Boston, where a group from Corderman continued our annual tradition by reading “Building Dreams: Girls in Construction," by Aga Kinman, to the students. The book highlighted various roles that women have in construction and helped to inspire the next generation of painters, welders, carpenters, builders and more so that they too can feel empowered in pursuing their dreams and capable of incredible things. The group answered all sorts of questions and shared their own stories and experiences in the construction industry.

At Wellness for Women in Real Estate’s (WWIRE) Kick-It event, Marketing Coordinator Sophia Hegarty and PC Rachel Chen joined a fun and energetic group of women from the AEC industry to get their fight on. Located at 601 Congress St, a new building in Boston’s growing Seaport District, this was the perfect spot for a post-work-day workout plus smoothies, snacks, and networking!

Our celebration continued with Project Manager Jana Licata’s recognition in New England Real Estate Journal’s 2025 Women in Construction Spotlight. In this feature, Jana reflects on her incredible journey from Brazil to Massachusetts, where she has shaped her career in the AEC industry over the past 10 years. She shares what inspires her about the construction industry and the art of building, as well as what guided her to becoming a Project Manager.
