PROJECT OVERVIEW

Named after a trend-setting shopping district in Tokyo, Daikanyama is a well-regarded Japanese sushi restaurant located within The Shops at Chestnut Hill. Inspired by Japanese culture, the design of this space provided a unique construction experience that centered on concepts of reinvention and transformation. Scale, texture, and repetition of materials carried throughout the restaurant, which features a sushi bar and kitchen and trendy booth seating.

The interior of Japanese style restaurant with light wooden tables throughout the space and muted earth tone accents. On each table there are place settings. There are hanging round lights on the left and rectangular ceiling lights on the right.
 

Unique Project Features:

  • Located within The Shops at Chestnut Hill where public foot traffic is relatively high, egress routes were carefully planned to minimize disruption and maximize safety.

  • Reflecting concepts of reinvention and transformation, distinctive materials and small details played a significant role in the design and construction of this space.
