Corderman & Company Volunteers with Haley House
The Corderman team had the opportunity to volunteer with Haley House at the Mel King School Garden, helping to tend the garden for the community. Haley House offers a variety of educational and support services to the community including food and meal programs through their soup kitchen, housing resources, a cooking and nutrition program, and a Life Foundations Training (LiFT) program.
Haley House also utilizes farming practices to sustainably source their food kitchen with fresh, healthy options. The Mel King School Garden, one of two urban farms run by Haley House, provides accessible and nutrient-dense foods for the food kitchen and community. The garden offers a positive, educational experience for the students of the school, providing interactive, hands-on, therapeutic and fun programs.
The organization even has its own café, Haley House Bakery Café, that encourages members of the community to connect, share ideas, and develop relationships. The HHBC partners with local organizations to provide meals to those living in affordable housing in Boston and is the home of many of their educational and training programs.
Members of the Corderman team had a wonderful experience learning about the incredible work that Haley House has done since its founding in 1966. It was inspiring to hear their story and connect to such a wonderful organization.
Haley House additionally accepts food and clothing donations throughout the year.
For the members of our team who were unable to physically volunteer at the Mel King School Garden, we set up a donation box in our office this month to collect an assortment of food items that Haley House was seeking.
