Corderman & Company has called South Boston home for 20 years. Corderman & Company’s partnership with the Tynan Elementary School centers on supporting a positive learning environment for teachers, staff, and students.

With the theme of the National Association of Women in Construction’s 25th WIC Week centering on “Many Paths, One Mission,” Corderman & Company focused on educating young, bright minds on the tremendous opportunities that are available for women in the construction industry.

Corderman & Company women, comprised of office and field personnel, visited Tynan Elementary School classrooms to read a children’s book titled The House That She Built followed by the engagement in a STEM-themed activity to cultivate conversations and curiosity around construction.

The House That She Built, written by Mollie Elkman and Georgia Castellano, educates young readers about the people and skills that go into building a home.

Women make up only 10.9% of the entire U.S. construction workforce. Recognizing the critical role that women play in construction and inspiring the next generation of women, particularly underrepresented youths, are valuable steps toward shaping the future of the industry.
