Welcome to the Neighborhood JCJ Architecture
With the arrival of JCJ Architecture, 9 Channel Center Street is now fully occupied. Corderman & Company was excited to partner with this architecture firm in order to build their new space — just two floors below our own!
The proximity of the project to our office, as well as the expertise offered on behalf of JCJ Architecture regarding the design and build-out of their space, made certain aspects of the project particularly efficient and convenient. However, the job was not without its challenges.
Commencing construction in an almost full building meant we had to be mindful of adjacent tenants and minimize noise and vibrations; with a brick and beam building like 9 Channel Center — sound travels, a lot. With South Boston Dental Group occupying the floor below the job space, a constant stream of communication between the Corderman Superintendent, Colby Hegarty, and the dental office was established to ensure the location of work was not directly above scheduled clients. A responsive and adaptive Corderman project team, and a very patient SBDG, helped to ensure that both the project schedule was unimpeded by these special considerations and that disruption to the dentist’s office and patients was minimized.
A perhaps more unique challenge presented itself when our HVAC subcontractor required access to mechanical systems on the roof. He quickly discovered that a seagull had taken residence on the roof and was very protective of her nest. Fortunately, work was able to be completed with minimal seagull attacks, and neither seagull nor subcontractor were harmed in the construction of JCJ Architecture’s space.
The 10,000 SF space was maximized with conference rooms, office spaces, a pantry, and a library for various material and finish samples. The space lends to collaboration while maintaining privacy when needed. JCJ’s red branding is tastefully infused within the new office and the combination of modern design within this historic building creates a sophisticated atmosphere for their team.
Corderman & Company recently enjoyed a get-together with JCJ Architecture, and were very excited to get to know our new neighbors!
